At some point in our lives most of us will face what is known as the dark night of the soul, a time when only our inner guides can accompany us to the other side of night. This can be a time of overwhelm and terror as we confront our own shadowy subconscious, but for the Alchemist this is just the beginning stage of the Great Work of transmuting our pain into power and ascension of the soul to higher levels of being.
